I am an absolute sucker for a good glass of bubbles, any time of year. As much as I enjoy Champagne, it isn't exactly budget friendly. To help you pick your next bottle of bubbles that won't break the budget, I have done a little tasting for you and created a list of my 'Top 5 Bottles of Bubbles' for you to enjoy on a special occasion, picnic with friends or just because.
I should mention I am no sommelier, but after living in the Hunter Valley for a few years during my early 20's, I have consumed many of glass of wine. This comes close to making me an expert, right?
I would love to hear what you think of any of the drops I have recommended below. Cheers 🥂
Sieur d'Aques - Cremant de Limoux $21.99
A French sparkling which tastes far more expensive than it's price point. A beautifully crisp and refreshing bubbles, which is sure to be a crowd pleaser! Great special occasions, drinks with friends or even a picnic date with your partner, as it feels that little bit romantic (you know, being French and all).
Santa Margherita - Prosecco Di Valdobbiadene $19.99
Still over in Europe with this Italian Prosecco 🤌 Nicely balanced with fruity flavours, while being light and refreshing. It is the perfect drop to accompany any meal or a delicious charcuterie spread. Let me get my glass...
House of Arras - A By Arras Premium Cuvée NV $26.99
A beautiful drop from Tasmania, this cuvée is delightfully light with buttery flavours on the palate. It's fab to have an Aussie sparkling rival much more expensive European varieties. Truly an easy drinker that everyone will enjoy, for any occasion.
Brown Brothers - Zibbibo $12.99
I'm more of a dry sparkling fan and typically wouldn't opt for a sweet sparkling, however, this drop was my 'gateway' bubbles. This is a great option if you're not a big wine drinker and even more so if you don't like to consume a lot of alcohol, at only 3.6 standard drinks per bottle (half the percentage of alcohol content then the others). It's fun, light, easy to drink and very budget friendly - perfect for a picnic with the girls or a celebratory breakfast and also comes in a Rosé, wrapped up in a pretty pink bottle.
Chandon - Brut $25.90
Such a well known and respected Australian sparkling, it's one of those bottles that will impress when entertaining. Not only does the gold labelling on the bottle make it feel that little bit spesh, the perfectly balanced creamy and citrisy characteristics that will pair with any food or just enjoyed on it's own. Cheers to that!
Special Mention
Veuve Alary - Gold Sparkling $19.99 ~ Fresh, light bodied, full gold bottle which looks great as a gift or several bottles in a tub for special events.
