The story behind my design...
I created this design originally as digital painting one night while freely creating. Guided by intuition, each brushstroke seemed to naturally gravitate towards connecting back to my home, Kalkadoon Country in North-West Qld. This distinct design intricately narrates the story of lands on which I grew up on, echoing the footsteps of my ancestors and generations before me.
The symbols, shapes and colours intricately depict the myriad tracks etched into the land by animals, humans and weather. They capture the changing colours of the muu (dirt), the arid yampi (riverbank/riverbed) before wet-season, surrounding ntia (mountains) that dance on the horizon, mob gathered at a murruu (camp), scattered watjin (spinifex) and dry bush, stoic rock formations and the dark warlua (shadows) cast across the landscape.
As with the theme of all my designs, a two-word Australian song name was chosen. For this design, I felt incredibly drawn to 'Solid Rock' - a powerful song. A reminder we are all standing and living on sacred ground...
